SOME LEGAL ASPECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
The NSW Bar Association is conducting a seminar to be presented by The Hon Murray Wilcox QC and Dr Jane McAdam at 5.15pm on Wednesday, 24 October 2007 at the Bar Association Common Room. The seminar will be chaired by Michael Slattery QC, and the interlocutor will be Matthew Baird.
Dr McAdam will consider the extent to which States have obligations under international law - in particular, international refugee law, human rights law, and environmental law - to "protect" people displaced by climate change. Murray Wilcox QC will discuss the possible form of a greenhouse gasses misssions trading scheme, and some of the issues that will arise in its design and implementation.
