NELA Membership

Anyone with an interest in environmental law and policy can join NELA.

Present membership includes MPs, State and Federal public servants, lawyers, engineers, local government officers, academics, librarians, town planners, environmental consultants, architects, and people from many other disciplines.

There are special membership rates for full-time students.  To be eligible for this special rate, a copy of your student card must be provided with the completed application form.

Discounts are offered to members attending seminars and conferences.

NELA Benefits

By joining NELA you can:

  • Receive free our quarterly journal, National Environmental Law Review.
  • Receive free the NELA Bulletin, an in-house quarterly newsletter.
  • Receive automatic membership of their State/Territory Division.
  • Receive reduced rates at national and State conferences and seminars.
  • Contribute comments and articles for publication.
  • Have the opportunity to meet regularly at informal gatherings with other NELA members in their State/Territory to exchange information.
  • Stay abreast of legislation, decisions and other developments affecting environmental law and policy in their own State/Territory, nationally and internationally.
  • Have access to the views of difference disciplines on environmental law and policy matters and the opportunity to broadcast their own views through contributions to NELA's journal.
  • Have the opportunity to shape the development of environmental law and policy by contributing through NELA to committees of inquiry and commentaries on bills and legislation.
