June Webinar: Better for the environment, better for business

 

On 20th June 2024, NELA held a webinar with Madeline Simspon (Partner, McCullough Robertson), Justine Bell-James (Associate Professor, University of Queensland) and Dave Copeman (Director, Queensland Conservation Council) to discuss the Federal Government’s nature positive reforms, including the recently released Stage legislation, how the EPA and EIA will impact business and the environment and what we can expect from Stage 3. This includes what the upcoming EPBC Act reforms and proposed new laws look like, where the reforms are at, and whether the reforms are better for business and better for the environment.

Justine Bell-James is an Associate Professor at the TC Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland, researching and teaching in the areas of environmental and climate change law. Justine is a Director of the National Environmental Law Association (NELA) and represented NELA at the EPBC Act reform stakeholder consultation sessions.

Madeline Simpson, Partner at McCullough Roberston is a leading Queensland environmental lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience. Madeline is an expert in managing risks associated with environmental issues, environmental and climate law reform, energy transition and the Commonwealth Government’s Nature Positive commitment.
