The National Environmental Law Association is the peak body for advancing Australian environmental law.

Established in 1982, NELA brings together professionals in environment and resources law and related disciplines. It's for anyone interested in environmental law.

To achieve its purpose, NELA:

Provides a forum for and otherwise assists the discussion, consideration and advancement of environmental law across the legal profession and wider community.

Makes recommendations and submissions on matters of environmental law in Australia.

Convenes and holds seminars, lectures and conferences.

OUR VISION: We are the national peak body for advancing Australian environmental law and policy.

OUR MISSION: We provide national leadership and a strong voice on environmental law and policy matters, and bring together lawyers, academics, experts, industry and the wider community to consider and progress these matters. We facilitate advancements in environmental law and policy, including through lodging submissions to government; provide education through events and publications; and advocate for positive environmental outcomes.
