Advancing and mainstreaming the rights of future generations

April 14, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AEST

Free – $20.00

If we are to address the multiple and complex issues of our time there can be no more urgent a task than integrating intergenerational thinking into our environmental planning and broader decision making. This can be achieved through the establishment of a Parliamentary Committee for the Future and the appointment of a National Future Generations Commissioner.

This presentation will look at the role of the world’s first Future Generations Commissioner in Wales and learnings from their recent review, as well as the development of The Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill currently in the British Parliament.
Finally, and most importantly, children and young people to actively participate as citizen stakeholders in policy development and decision making. Young people play an invaluable role and have ownership in the future they are creating and inheriting.
